Pre-boarding Checklist
Tour: Have I toured the kennel where I will leave my pet? CPP offers tours any time during their business hours, with no appointment necessary. (See Location & Hours)
Food: Have I checked with the kennel to see if they offer the kind of food my pet eats? If my pet is on a special diet, have I pre-packaged and labeled my pet’s food in daily doses, to ensure that CPP is feeding the correct amount? (See Dog Boarding or Cat Boarding)
Medications: Are my pet’s medications (if any) packaged in their original container, indicating the patients name, medication name, strength, dosage, and prescribing veterinarian? Are my pet’s supplements and vitamins (if any) in their original container, and labeled with my pet’s name and dosages? Do I understand the kennel’s policy and fees on medications, supplements, and vitamins? CPP charges $1 each time a prescription medication is administered. There is no charge for vitamins and supplements.
Hours and Fees: Do I know (or have a copy of) the kennel’s hours and boarding rates? Do I understand what is included in these fees? These are posted in CPP office and on the website (see Hours & Location, and either Dog Boarding or Cat Boarding).
Grooming Services: Have I reviewed the grooming services offered by the kennel, and set up an appointment with the kennel to have these services done for my pet during their visit, if desired? Do I understand the fees for these services? (See Grooming)
Extra Services and Treats: Have I reviewed the extra services and treats offered by the kennel, and added them on to my pet’s boarding reservation, if desired? (See A La Carte)
Special Needs: Have I alerted the kennel of any special needs my pet may have? Has the kennel made a note of these needs on my pet’s file?
Emergencies: Do I understand the kennel’s policy on medical emergency medical situations? Have I left an (or more than one) emergency contact number with the kennel? In the event of a medical emergency, CPP will contact the pet owner(s), and if unavailable the emergency contact will be called. If CPP feels it is necessary, we will transport your pet to the nearest open veterinary hospital, and you will be charged the fees from the veterinary hospital upon pick up.
Personal Belongings: (toys, bedding, bowls, treats, leashes and collars, crates, etc.): Do I understand the kennel’s policy on personal belongings? If I choose to leave belongings with my pet, have I labeled them with my pet’s name? CPP provides bedding and bowls for all pets. Treats are provided upon request, at no extra charge. CPP uses our own slip leashes to walk all dogs. For this and other safety reasons, we remove your pet’s leash and collar during their stay. CPP is not responsible for any misplaced, damaged, or destroyed belongings. We kindly ask that you leave your personal belongings at home.
Vaccines: Have I ensured that my pet is current on all vaccines required by the kennel? Have I provided a copy of my pet’s vaccine record to the kennel as proof? (See Dog Boarding or Cat Boarding for CPP required vaccines.)
Contract: Have I signed a copy of the kennel’s contract? Have I requested a copy of the contract, if desired? CPP has a one-time electronic contract, and will provide you with a copy, upon request.
Questions: Have I asked any questions I may have? Do I have the kennel’s phone number or business card, so that I can call them if I have any additional questions or want to check in on my pet? (See Contact Us)
